The South Central Texas area's Chameleon Game Group welcomes anyone who has an interest in reviving and playing The Fantasy Trip and/or Euro games or other simulations including out-of-print Avalon Hill productions.

Our core is about five original TFTers from the first game purchase of Melee in our senior year of high school in 1977. We have brought in additional players, especially teenagers and young adults, to continue the tradition and have just finished a multi-year campaign with rotating GMs.

Our total gaming group consists of about 15 players, with about 8 TFTers, on average.

An excellent mix of men and women in various walks of life come together to enjoy social gaming currently held every four weeks on Friday evening (subject to change). Everyone also engages in the newer Euro games such as Settlers of Catan, Princes of Florence, Goa, and the rest.

Contact the group if you live in the area and we will welcome you to our once every four week meeting and will also allow you to access the members for other times as you desire to arrange. We are always looking to increase the size of our club and meet new gamers. Bring your favorite game and more than likely there will be those to try it out.

Special Note: The contact for the group worked for a time at Steve Jackson Games, housed in a converted kennel in South Austin, in the early 1980s, and attended engineering classes with one of the original playtesters, Kenneth Schultz (check the credits! :) ).

Notes:
In 1977, my brother Warren broght home a copy of "Melee" and later "Wizard;" both of which I loved. However, in the professional life that followed, I lost track of these gems.

Warren wrote "Crown of Kings" back in 1981 and submitted it to Metagaming. However, it was never picked up, and Metagaming soon after folded (caus & effect?). Though long dorment, "Crown of Kings" is finally available to the public.

My childhood friends Per and Ted have spent countless hours brainstorming and playtesting games with us. They have provided a vast amount of inspiration, ideas and critical guidance.

With contributions from these people and (hopefully) the next generation of gamers, this site will help rekindle an interest in a long lost treasure.
